Privacy Policy

Our Homeschool Village is an adult-managed community. This policy explains what information the website uses and the choices available to families.

Information we collect

Adults provide account and signup details such as name, email, general location, homeschool information, and family profile choices. Family profiles may include children’s ages or birthdays, genders, interests, and activities, but children do not create accounts and families should not enter children’s legal names. We also store content you choose to share, including photos, posts, comments, messages, groups, events, contact requests, reports, and privacy settings. Security records may include session, sign-in, rate-limit, and technical information.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, provide matching and search, support communication and events, honor privacy choices, moderate the community, prevent abuse, answer support requests, and operate and improve the website.

Who can see information

Your legal name, email address, password, and private administrative information are not shown on member profiles. Approved members may see the profile fields and content you choose to share. Administrators may review information when needed to operate the service, address a report, or protect the community. Event organizers decide what details to share with approved attendees.

Service providers and sharing

We use service providers for website hosting, databases, file storage, and email delivery. They process information only as needed to provide those services. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect a person from harm, investigate misuse, or protect the rights and security of the community.

Security and retention

Passwords are stored using one-way password hashing, private links expire, and inactive sessions sign out automatically. No online service can guarantee absolute security. We retain information while an account is active and as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and document the service. After an approved deletion request, we remove or anonymize account information where reasonably possible. Limited records may remain when required for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute, or backup purposes.

Your choices

Members can edit profile information, control optional profile visibility, block and report other members, deactivate a profile, and request account deletion from Account settings. Deactivation hides the profile and signs the member out but preserves the account for later reactivation. A deletion request is reviewed before removal so identity and safety obligations can be checked.

Questions or privacy requests

Signed-in members can use Account settings to request deletion. For other privacy questions, contact an administrator through the community. We may update this policy as the service changes and will post the updated date here.
